'Kanerva: In Night Remains' is a black & white photography project that depicts a dialogue with disliked memories.
The pictures are a poetic journey through the sight of Kanerva, a fictional character whose reality is ignored by others. During her trip, a series of emotions between arousal and valance make their way through in order to portray the sense of anxiety, dependence and a cake that may last forever.
For Kanerva, time travels fast between the walls that she expects will be demolished by the consequence of hope and forgiveness for the past.
Every day, while a neighbor listens to a religious audiobook and another one plays the piano, Kanerva awaits for the arrival of the night and for a sociopath friend. For her, the surrealist and parallel inner worlds make a contrast with the border of the real and the unreal as part of her own universe. During their nocturnal outings all these contradictions are fused creating a series of blurry stories wrapped in mystery. A humid melancholy of alcohol jumps to its reality forming the world of Kanerva, reaching the thin line of a nightmare with a punch of passionate love.
