Multidisciplinary Monta -collective is comprised of artists based in Helsinki and Turku with a long term project supported by poetry foundation Nihil Interit. The project named ”Diversity of genders” is an attempt to thematize the topic using several different artistic mediums, which mash, mingle and intertwine together, creating a new discourse. In 'Banquet' we work mainly but not exclusively with poetry, installation, performance and sound.
Banquet is a collective performance process and a spatio-temporal poem. It is made public to all visitors during the opening hours of the gallery. The duration of the process is six days starting on Monday and ending on Saturday. Our theme is banquet, which suggests a long feast: the evolution of the banquet is from scarce to plenty, from plain to glorious, from one form to the other.
Each piece will be collectively put together, many of them over the course of the week.
Some of them will remain in the space as installation pieces and some of them may be performances performed only once to a unique audience.
Our collective seeks to welcome fluctuation and multiplicity as a strategy of making art and transform the gallery space into a one-week long autonomous space.
