Parsa Kamehkhosh (b.1985) is a Helsinki-based designer/artist. Form and aesthetics have been his major themes of exploration from the first years of his studies in fields of art and design.
He tries to experience being in the world and let himself be touched by aesthetic phenomena, becomes fascinated and then reflects on these feelings in the form of “bringing things”. This process, in the first place, is actually a way to express his appreciation to the world and then, its outcome might touch audiences at some points and connect them to their own unconsciousness. He calls himself a “bringer” and not a creator, based on this belief that he is only a door through which these things can enter the realm of existence in a certain way.
“Something from the world outside appears to me in a certain way and amuses me deeply; this is fascination, the major motivation behind all I bring. This fascination is about form, and to me, form is both surface and meaning. My understanding of form roots in design education. Emancipation of this understanding from the common design districts and applying it in a new context somewhere in between art and design is what I am doing now. Therefore, my design based aesthetic obsessions would find a chance to be brought to reality and this reality, as a form of presentation, can be chosen according to the idea. It can be sculpture, performance, video art, installation or a product but I prefer to call them things.”
