RAW MATERIAL
Lena Katrine & Heidi Anett
13 - 18.10.2015
OPENING: Monday 12th October, 18.00 - 21.00 hours.
EXHIBITION OPEN: 13th, 14th, 16th & 18th October, 17.00 - 19.00 hours. “In their production the Norwegian artist group Heidi-Anett & Lena Katrine/Lena Katrine & Heidi-Anett is working with a dense web of references and intertextuality – from our art historical tradition as well as our common visual culture. Their works are always in a dialogue – with history, with the spectator, with itself – opening up several important questions and issues without ever being dictating.” Inger Marie Hahn Møller, MA in Art History. The title of this exhibition can be read as a reference to the photographic media in which the term raw is used to describe files and material before being processed into a final form. Still the motifs in our exhibited photographies are composed within a frame of formal choices pointing to a strict and minimalistic practise. The sober colors of the natural elements (body, cotton, clay) depicted are typical for our production of visuals and the titles Drapery (with blue details) and Clay Portrait I and II are inspired by the history of classical diciplines as painting and sculpture. The last year we have been initiating projects which can be described as relational. For the exhibition Raw Material we are working on a come-together which will take place outside of the gallery space in the form of two dinners for a small group of exhibition guests. We think of eating together as a way of creating bounds and meaning by an equitable investment of time from both our guests and ourselves. It will be possible to sign up for two dinners with a limited amount of seats; Saturday the 10th of October at 8 pm and Sunday the 11th of October at 7 pm. To sign up, send an e-mail to [email protected] |
The exhibition Raw Material is curated by Sepideh Rahaa and made with support from Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme.

About the artists:
"Since 2009 we, Heidi-Anett Haugen and Lena Katrine Johansen, have formed the duo Lena Katrine & Heidi-Anett/Heidi-Anett & Lena Katrine. In exhibitions we alternate between using Lena Katrine & Heidi-Anett and Heidi-Anett & Lena Katrine as the name of our duo. This specific choice says quite a lot about our way of working as topics as equality, community and value extrapolations are key interests for us. Together we create staged photography- and video-work in which sculptural forms engage in dialogue with its surroundings both within the frame of the artwork and within the architectural frame of the room where the artworks are installed. In most of our works we have used our own bodies as material."
