The Present Continues is a video installation that motivates us to rethink our existence within popular culture and reflect upon the narratives enclosed inside the screens of televisions.
The main interest of Elena’s research is presence and absence and how these concepts are mediated through television and new media. The installation invites the audience to approach television as something uncanny rather than comforting and entertaining. The work is part of her Master’s degree thesis at Visual Culture and Contemporary Art at Aalto University. The MA thesis text is available at the exhibition. |
Elena Aleksandrova (b.1992) is a Helsinki-based artist from St.Petersburg. In her artistic practice she is interested in working with popular cultural and social phenomenons as a platform for
