What happens when the shared past becomes part of the future and even part of the future after the future? How the wars (especially civil wars) have been
affecting on people living in them and how does this affect appear in the Finnish society and in its communities in 2017? And after that? I think, deeply inside, we are not so interested about the celebration of 100-years independency in Finland, but more about what will happen after the celebration. How will Finland
start it's new epoch with it's new residents with different futures, with new values. Are these values and futures at least partly shared or equal, and if not, could we make them to be so? How will ”after the future-generations” live together in shared space?
My project in Third Space is the continuation of my exhibition ”Koti, uskonto jaisänmaa” in Finland100 Shadow-exhibition held in Gallery Kalleria 14.10-12.11.2017, with Iraqi painter and poet Muhaned Durubi (”My Homeland – Mental Hospital”). Installation shown in Third Space is a mixture of works seen in Gallery Kalleria and new documents, installed together in new format. My works are in process in which anyone can hopefully find a way to take part.
Installation will consist of: 100 concrete angels, book, video, collages, paintings, banderols and political documentations. In addition to the physical installation there will be open discussions and workshops during the exhibition-week.

I. Wednesday 15.11 6-9 pm. What is the future of Finland? How will ”after the future-generations” live together in shared space? How politics can or should affect in this? II. Tuesday 21.11 6-9 pm. Immigrant-backgrounded new Finns invited to talk about their life in Finland. What kind of challenges there are, what about their hopes and dreams? |
