Whose Education?
A conversation with Tiina Rosenberg
19.11.2014
The role of art education today is increasingly embedded in the contradictions of an economy oriented at producing knowledge as a commodity. The goals of education often remain unquestioned amidst pressures to prepare a workforce capable of responding to the demands of contemporary labour markets. Where do we locate our critical agency in these conditions under which dominant normalisations and exclusions often get reproduced?
Whose Education? is a Helsinki-based group of practitioners interested in exploring how education can change the horizon of the visible, sayable, and doable. Through a series of open-ended conversations, we aim to give time and take time in order to think together strategies on how to intervene and create challenges from the within institutional frameworks.
Whose Education? has the pleasure to have its first conversation with Tiina Rosenberg on Wednesday 19 November at 18:00 at Third Space.
Welcome! (Limited seating space available.)
** Whose Education? is located under the framework of the transnational research network “Another Roadmap for Arts Education" (http://another.zhdk.ch/) The Helsinki group is formed by Ahmed Al-Nawas, Giovanna Esposito, Aino Korvensyrjä, and David Muoz.
