Zapatos rojos (Red shoes)
+Collective
12.10 - 24.11.2020
From now until November 20th, Third Space will be occupied by the +Collective with the purpose of painting around 300 pairs of shoes for the "Zapatos rojos" (Red shoes) installation.
Zapatos Rojos is an artivist project by the Mexican artist, Elina Chauvet, started in Ciudad Juárez in 2009. The installation had as its origin denouncing violence against women in response to the wave of femicides (hate crime, understood as the murder of a woman for the fact of being a woman) in Ciudad Juárez in the 1990’s, and over time it has become a symbol of reflection on the violence experienced by women around the world.
This installation will be part of the organized activities within the We Want We Do campaign.
We Want We Do is an artivism campaign promoted by +Collective, driven mainly by women of various nationalities together with independent people, networks, organizations and associations looking for real, alternative and determined actions against gender-based violence and discrimination in all its forms.
